Evangelina and David Flynn | A March Wedding at Baddow Park House

Every wedding at Baddow Park House has its own story — no two are ever quite the same. Some couples find us through a friend’s recommendation. Others arrive after months of searching for a venue that finally feels right.

Evangelina and David arrived at Baddow Park House by a rather more personal route. Years before their engagement, Evangelina had visited the venue during a wedding photo shoot and had never forgotten what she saw. She had spoken of it to David long before a proposal had entered the conversation. When he proposed on Christmas Day 2024, the choice of venue required no deliberation whatsoever. What followed was a wedding day that neither of them will ever forget.

THEIR STORY

Some love stories begin in the most ordinary of places, and that is precisely what makes them extraordinary. Evangelina and David met at their very first job together in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Years later, on Christmas Day 2024, David proposed at home, just the two of them, a quiet, intimate moment that set the tone for everything that followed.
From the moment they got engaged, the decision was already made. Baddow Park House had lived in Evangelina’s mind for years — not as a distant aspiration, but as a quiet certainty. David had heard her speak of it more than once. When the proposal came, the conversation that followed was not about where to get married but simply about when.

WHY THEY CHOSE OUR VENUE

For Evangelina and David, Baddow Park House was not simply a venue — it was a feeling. From the moment they arrived for their first viewing, the house felt like a home away from home. That sense of warmth and belonging never left them throughout the planning process and carried through to the wedding day itself.

From their first enquiry to the wedding day itself, Evangelina and David experienced the thoughtful planning support and personal attention provided by the Baddow Park House team. From the very first enquiry to the final farewell, every member of the team at Baddow Park House gave Evangelina and David their complete and undivided attention. No request was too much, no detail too small. It is this standard of care – consistent, genuine, and unhurried – that sits at the heart of everything we do. This level of care and attention was a defining part of Evangelina and David’s experience throughout their wedding journey.

THE DETAILS

Evangelina wore a Maggie Sottero gown from Grace and Lace in Chelmsford, paired with Carvela shoes and Miss Dior’s Blooming Bouquet perfume. In a deeply personal touch, a small piece of her mother’s wedding dress was sewn into the lining, a tradition shared by all her sisters. Her bridesmaids wore Six Stories dresses, and the bouquets were an elegant arrangement of white roses and white hydrangeas from The Orchid Rooms.

David and the groomsmen wore green and grey suits from The Grooms Room in Colchester, with Emporio Armani’s Stronger With You as the chosen scent for the day.

The table design was a particularly personal and creative touch; each table took its name from a number, dressed with photographs of Evangelina and David at that corresponding age. Place names were finished in gold-engraved circles, and all stationery, welcome signs, and the table plan were designed and produced by Paint By Hands. The wedding cake, supplied by AB Bakery, featured two tiers: a classic Victoria sponge and a lemon drizzle. The couple’s first dance was to Latch by Sam Smith, and GO2 Entertainment provided the evening’s entertainment package.

The wedding menu featured a starter of ham hock or pumpkin tortellini, a main of beef cheeks or chicken, and a dessert of lemon tart or ginger sponge. Photography was handled by Emma Collyer Photography and TJG Photography, with MAC Videography capturing the day on film.

THE PERFECT TIME OF YEAR

Evangelina and David chose March deliberately — they wanted a wedding that was comfortable and unhurried, free from the heat of the summer months. They were rewarded with a cloudy but dry day, exactly as they had hoped. The early spring setting at Baddow Park House lent the day a calm, intimate atmosphere that felt entirely in keeping with who they are as a couple.

For couples considering a quieter season for their celebration, a late winter or early spring date offers something the busy summer calendar rarely offers — a venue that feels yours entirely, without the noise of the peak season surrounding it.

A MOMENT THEY WILL NEVER FORGET

When asked what they remembered most about the day, Evangelina and David gave the same answer: not the flowers, not the food, not even the first dance. What stayed with them was the sight of everyone they loved gathered together in one room. The warmth of it, the rarity of it.

It is a moment that can slip by in the natural momentum of the day. Evangelina and David speak from experience when they say this: pause, look around, and take it all in. Find a quiet moment together amid the celebration. The details that demanded so much attention during planning — the flowers, table settings, and timeline — eventually fade into the background. What remains is the feeling of the day itself.

WHAT THEY LOVED MOST

What stayed with Evangelina and David long after the day was not the décor or the food — though both were memorable — it was the people. The warmth and professionalism of the team at Baddow Park House made a lasting impression, and it is something that no wedding venue package can quantify on paper. The venue itself has since become a place of genuine sentimental significance — not simply because of the wedding, but because of the care and dedication that surrounded every moment of it.

“Baddow Park quickly became a second home for us. Everyone was so caring and kind from the very start. Nothing was ever too much. The wedding may be done, but Baddow Park will always be a special place — not just because of the wedding, but because of the people.” – The Flynns
