An Autumn Wedding at Baddow Park House

Set against the soft colours of early autumn, this wedding was a relaxed and elegant celebration that unfolded over a full weekend at Baddow Park House. With friends and family staying on site, it captured everything couples look for in extended stay wedding venues in Essex time to slow down, settle in, and enjoy each moment as it comes.

THEIR STORY

Tom and Hannah first met at work, where shared shifts gradually turned into friendship and, eventually, something more. Their proposal took place far from home while celebrating Hannah’s 30th birthday in Dubai. A private boat, the Palm in view, and the Burj Al Arab as the backdrop made for a moment that was personal, thoughtful, and quietly memorable.

That sense of intimacy carried through to their wedding day.

WHY THEY CHOSE OUR VENUE

From their first visit, Baddow Park House felt right. Open fireplaces, warm interiors, the orangery, and the surrounding grounds gave the house an atmosphere that felt welcoming rather than formal. Both Tom and Hannah loved how the venue felt grand without being overwhelming.

Having space for family and friends to stay was a key part of their decision. Being able to extend the celebration beyond a single day turned their wedding into a shared experience, one of the reasons couples searching for a countryside wedding venue in Essex or bespoke wedding venues in Chelmsford are drawn to the Baddow Park Estate.

A MEMORABLE AUTUMN WEDDING

Autumn suited the house beautifully. The light was soft, the skies mostly overcast, and although there was a short spell of rain, it never interrupted the flow of the day. Even with the changing weather, the grounds and interiors offered plenty of opportunities for photographs, a reminder of why Baddow Park House works so well year-round as a country house wedding venue in Chelmsford.

The orangery became the heart of the celebration. From the ceremony through to the wedding breakfast and into the evening, the space transitioned naturally, allowing the day to unfold without guests ever feeling rushed or relocated. This is exactly why couples seeking luxury orangery venues in Essex are drawn to the venue.

THE DETAILS

Hannah wore a Mark Lesley gown from Abigail’s collection, paired with classic tuxedos from Slaters Menswear for the Groom’s party. Bridesmaids wore olive green dresses from Pretty Lavish, all in the same shade but with slightly different necklines, bringing individuality while keeping the overall look cohesive.

Hand-painted signage, including the welcome sign, table plan, table names, and menu cards, was created by Laura Hands (@paintbyhands). Floral centrepieces by Helen Sheard (@helen_sheard_floral_designs_) featured candles and foliage arranged on wooden boards, adding warmth and texture to the tables without overwhelming the space.

The three-tier buttercream cake was made by Amelia Blanks (@_ab_bakery), featuring white chocolate and raspberry, salted caramel, and lemon and elderflower tiers. Fresh flowers and a cake topper completed the design, with an additional Biscoff cake served later in the evening.

Photography was captured by Sophie Oldhamstead Photography, with videography by Aaron Compton (@luxe_wedding_films), documenting both the quieter moments and the energy of the celebrations.

MUSIC, FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE

The first dance, set to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli, was unplanned and instinctive. It reflected the relaxed tone of the day perfectly. In the evening, a seven-piece band from Go2 Entertainment filled the orangery, quickly becoming one of the highlights for guests and keeping the atmosphere lively throughout the night.

Dinner reflected the season, beginning with warming starters and carefully chosen main courses, followed by the wedding cake as dessert. Small finishing touches, including a pick and mix station and table shots for guests, added a sense of fun while maintaining the easy, informal feel of the celebration.

WHAT THEY LOVED MOST

What Tom and Hannah remember most is how effortlessly the weekend came together. The staff, the food, and the band all stood out, but it was the overall sense of ease that made the experience so special. For couples considering autumn wedding venues in Essex, it is this feeling that defines a wedding at Baddow Park House.
