Her Majesty The Queen’s military ceremonial Land Rover joins us for the Jubilee celebrations
Queen Elizabeth’s military ceremonial Land Rover joins us for a very special photo shoot, at Baddow Park House in Essex prior to her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
On 6th February this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
To commemorate and celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, Baddow Park House held a jubilee themed photoshoot using the Queen’s military ceremonial Land Rover used in her Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977.
One of the Queen’s most beloved vehicles.
The Matson Martin family bought the 1968 Land Rover Series IIA 109” 4×4 in 2017 at the September Goodwood revival meeting from Bonhams. They were very grateful to have the opportunity to find such a vehicle at the prestigious auction and even more so to be successful in purchasing it. The ceremonial Land Rover has subsequently been added to the collection of cars that the family keep at the Baddow Park Estate.
The ceremonial Land Rover has not been seen for many, many years due to the previous owners being the Ministry of Defence. The military disposal company Bonhams were able to commission the vehicle for sale in 2017 and did a great job of displaying it at the Goodwood revival meeting.
Caring for the Queen’s Land Rover.
The history and provenance of the vehicle is 2nd to none with Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Philip having been seen in the vehicle many times. It has been beautifully built with special coachwork by Central Workshops, REME. The ceremonial Land Rover currently has 1462 miles on the clock, is in perfect working order and regularly maintained by in-house mechanics and staff for us here at Baddow Park House, adding an element of history to the already historic estate and hunting lodge

Celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee, Baddow Park House take an absolute joy in displaying this vehicle. Being able to carefully look after these historic classic vehicles for the future is something that the Matson Martin family take very seriously.
