Everybody loves a wedding.
But it takes a lot of planning and consideration when it comes to your own. Even though the team here at Baddow House are on hand to help make your special day perfect, there is something to be said for those of you thinking, ‘All of this just for one day?!’
Well, here’s an idea… why not make it more than one day? A great way to relieve stress is a holiday. So maybe you should be focusing less on the one big wedding ‘day’ and instead be considering more of a wedding ‘holiday’!
Read on to find out how to make it happen and extend those celebrations to make your wedding even more unforgettable…
What Are Extended Stay Weddings?
An extended stay wedding is a wedding where you stay at your wedding venue not just for the one night, but instead for a few. Rather than everything focusing on the one big day, you can make the lead-up and/or following days part of the fun and enjoy some extra time with family and friends.
Extended stay weddings are great if you have guests who’ve travelled a long way to enjoy your wedding with you. It can be a lot to expect them to travel all that way to only briefly see you on the day. But if they know they get to spend some quality time with you before or after, it’ll make the journey more worthwhile.
Extended stays can also be ideal if you’re having more of an intimate wedding where you and your guests can all stay and keep the magic of the day alive for that little bit longer.
What Are The Benefits Of An Extended Stay Wedding?
There are loads of benefits to having an extended stay wedding. It all depends on how you choose to use the extra time you have at the venue.
Taking a couple of days to stay at the venue in the run-up to your wedding can give you some quality time to get rested and spend time with your family.
Or, if you wish, you can also use this time to ensure every little detail is in place, exactly how you want it, ready for the day. Though not quite such a relaxing option, we know some couples feel like they need to be involved, and by seeing it all coming together, you can relax and rest, reassured that everything is going to plan.
Being at the venue the night before the wedding also means you could choose to adopt the American custom and have a big family ‘rehearsal’ dinner.
Whichever it is, staying an extra night or two in the lead-up to the wedding can give you that space and time to put you at ease and ensure you are on your best form when the big day arrives.
Instead of rushing off on your honeymoon after your wedding, you could spend a couple more days at the venue. It can feel a bit sad when your big day is over – all that preparation and planning, then the excitement of the day, and then suddenly it’s done, never to be repeated. It’s all a bit of a blur – you likely haven’t had the time to catch up with any of your friends or family properly.
By extending your stay further, you can really keep the celebrations alive for longer. The extra time can be spent revelling in the memories of the day, going over photos friends have taken and staying disconnected from the world, wrapped in your wedding bubble. Hopefully, by the time you come to leave, you will feel more ready to get back to normal and re-enter the real world!

Will My Wedding Consultant Help Me Plan My Extended Stay Wedding?
If you need any help with planning activities and coming up with ideas for your extended stay, your personal wedding consultant can give you the full rundown of what’s available and will be more than happy to organise it all for you. You can guarantee she’ll make sure everything runs smoothly and you don’t have to worry about a thing.
She won’t be there in person for your extended stay, but one of the wedding team will be – and she will have made sure everything is in place for you and your family to have the most memorable time.
To find out all the amazing things your Wedding Consultant can do to make your day as stress-free and enjoyable as possible, Meet The Team at Baddow Park House.
Can I Ask My Guests To Pay Towards The Accommodation?
This is entirely up to you. It’s very normal for couples to ask their friends or families if they want to pay to stay at the venue, much like if you were arranging a mini-break together. So don’t feel like you can’t ask; at the end of the day, it’s up to your guests if they want to stay on or not.
Whether your guests are contributing towards their rooms or you are treating them, the payment is taken as a whole from you. This ensures there’s no confusion on your final day when your taxi is waiting outside, ready to take you to the airport, and you’re still trying to work out who’s forgotten to pay!
An Unforgettable Occasion
If you’re keen to make the magic of your big day last, an extended stay wedding is definitely worth considering. The extra quality time you get to spend with your friends and family, soaking up every minute of your wedding celebrations and enjoying your luxurious surroundings, can only make the occasion even more unforgettable.
By the time you leave, you can feel relaxed and rejuvenated, ready for your next holiday – the Honeymoon!
